NEA Grant Will Fund Virginia Stage Military Play

The Virginia Stage Company has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to help commission and produce a new play about the military. Deborah Brevoort’s new play, with a working title of “The Comfort Team,” will “explore the challenges and joys that families face when a loved one is serving their country,” says Managing Director Keith Stava.

America-in-Play

Deborah will be a participating artist in the 2010/2011 season at America-in-Play, a theatre collective that explores the neglected legacy of early American plays and popular entertainment.

Deborah Pens Winning Essay

The Comfort Team, Deborah’s new play about military wives, receives grant from Harpo Foundation

Harpo Foundation is pleased to announce 11 new grants that will support the production of new work by under recognized artists in the United States and internationally.  This latest distribution of funds concludes a two-year thematic focus that has sought to explore the relationship between art and site in a dematerializing world. Harpo Foundation received hundreds of proposals in response to this thematic focus and it has been a privilege to be a part of this evolving and expanding conversation.
