Deborah was invited to serve as a mentor to the Rainmaker NBO musical theatre initiative in Kenya, a new program that is being led by Kenyan pop composer Eric Wainaina and Roberta Levitow of the Sundance Institute. The first workshop was held in June at The Elephant in Nairobi, Kenya. She was joined by American composer Fred Carl. Deborah and Fred worked with Kenyan composers and authors/librettists to create the first-ever batch of new Kenyan musicals that will premiere in a festival in 2020.
