Winner of the 1999 L. Arnold Weissberger Award
A woman's awakening throws a remote island community into
chaos in this two-act play set in an isolated Alaskan fishing
town. At the height of the crisis, a mysterious man is washed
ashore, setting the town and it's inhabitants on fire in more
ways than one. Into the Fire explores betrayal, rebirth, and
community in a style that can be best described as Magic Realism
with an Alaskan twist.

Into the Fire has never been produced. It has been
workshopped and presented in staged readings at: 1995 O’Neill
Conference; 1996 Australian Playwrights Conference, Canberra,
Australia; Charlotte Repertory Theatre’s New Play Festival,
1998; and Urban Stages, NYC, 2000.
It has also won numerous awards: 1999 L. Arnold Weissberger
award; 1996 Clauder Competition, Rhode Island winner; finalist
1998 National Play Award. It was written under fellowships from
the National Endowment for the Arts and the Alaska State Council
on the Arts. A monologue from the play has been published in
Monologues By Women, For Women. Into the Fire
was published by Samuel French in July, 2000
