Goodbye My Island tells the story of the relocation of
the King Islanders from their home in the Bering Sea of Alaska
by the US Government in 1963. This true story is told through
the eyes of different community members who experienced the loss
of their home, community and culture. A story about cultures in
conflict at a pivotal moment in American history, Goodbye My
Island is an exploration of change and it’s impact on three
different generations. The story of Goodbye My Island
takes place twelve years after the events of King Island
Christmas, also by the same authors. Many of the characters
from King Island Christmas reappear in Goodbye My
Island. Although inspired by a historical event, Goodbye
My Island is a work of fiction.
